Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for processing personal information.

Depending on the circumstances, we may rely on:

Legitimate interests

We may process personal information where this is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating our recruitment business, identifying suitable candidates, communicating with prospective candidates and clients, and providing recruitment services.

When relying on legitimate interests, we consider whether our interests are balanced against your rights and freedoms.

Taking steps at your request

Where you contact us or provide information because you are interested in discussing a career opportunity, we may process information where this is necessary to respond to your request and take appropriate steps at your request.

Legal obligations

We may process information where necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.

Consent

Where consent is required by law, we will ask for it.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.

5. Sharing your information

We will treat candidate information confidentially.

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our recruitment business

We will not routinely send your CV or personal details to a prospective employer without discussing the opportunity with you and, where appropriate, obtaining your agreement to the introduction.

Our recruitment process is intended to be confidential, and we will take reasonable steps to respect your preferences regarding potential employers.

6. Recruitment and candidate profiles

If you register with The Mortgage Talent Company, we may create and maintain a candidate profile containing information relevant to your professional experience and career preferences.

This allows us to understand your experience and identify potentially suitable opportunities.

Your profile may include information such as your qualifications, mortgage experience, working model, career preferences and other professional information you provide to us.

You can contact us at any time to request that information held about you is corrected or updated.

7. Information about qualifications and professional experience

Because we specialise in the UK mortgage industry, we may process information relating to professional qualifications, regulatory status, experience and other information relevant to a mortgage professional’s suitability for an opportunity.

Where appropriate, we may ask for information or documentation to verify qualifications or professional experience.

Any final decision to employ or engage a candidate is made by the relevant brokerage or employer.

8. Information obtained from LinkedIn and other professional sources

We may identify potential candidates through professional networking platforms, recruitment websites and other publicly available professional information.

Where we contact you in this way, our purpose will generally be to discuss potential career opportunities or establish whether you would be interested in having a confidential career conversation.

We do not assume that someone who appears suitable for an opportunity wishes to change employment.

You can ask us not to contact you about future recruitment opportunities, and we will respect your request subject to any legal or regulatory requirements that apply.

9. How long we keep your information

We will retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including for recruitment, relationship management, legal, regulatory and legitimate business purposes.

As a general approach, we may retain candidate information for [24 months] from our last meaningful contact with you, after which it will be reviewed and deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

We may retain certain information for longer where we have a legitimate reason or legal obligation to do so.

Where applicable law requires consent for particular types of electronic marketing, we will obtain the necessary consent.

You can ask us to stop sending you marketing or recruitment communications at any time by contacting us or using an unsubscribe option where provided.

We will continue to retain information where we have another lawful basis for doing so, such as maintaining a recruitment record or managing an existing relationship.
